A while back while in my English 217 class my teacher told us to write an ode poem. It could be about anything we wanted it to be. I being a smart Alec and thinking that the assignment was stupid, wrote about toilet paper...but as I started writing it I realized there was a deeper meaning to it than I thought it would...so here it is and let me know what you think about it...
Ode to Toilet Paper...
Oh this toilet paper
How strong you are
It is straight and narrow
No twists and turns
I see you everywhere
Used for every purpose imaginable
How I would not want your job
Not in a million trillion years
Would I ever want your job...
You get crumpled up
And are flushed down the toilet only to be lost for ever
You are ripped, torn and shredded to pieces
Treated horribly with no respect
You end up in a waste land
your existence is purposeful and
meaningless at the same time...
You get stuck on the bottom of peoples shoes
You get stuffed up into places that
Would make a preacher blush
Oh toilet paper...
So white and clean
Until you are used...
Then you get dirty and tarnished
and then no one wants you...
It's like you have the scarlet letter A on you...
Plagued...never to be clean again
No one wants to be near you
No one wants to touch you
And no one wants to look at you.
Oh toilet paper...
Once used you are
Flushed down the toilet
To be lost for ever
How sad I am for you...
I don't know what you may think of it...but maybe there is a deeper meaning behind it...
